Blogging for a new you!
Shawan Mullen, over at Compendium Software, blogged recently about an article she had read last year. Item #13 for improving your life was to start a blog.
I couldn't agree more.
First, it is easy to become more educated on a particular subject by reading as much as you can. In the Blogosphere, there is plenty to read. For example, if you think you would like to "Get into" Web 2.0 marketing, start reading as much as you can on the subject.
Second, blogging allows you to elevate your profile on the subject. Start posting comments on blogs that interest you. From the above example, if you were to start posting comments on some of these blogs, that authors may begin to recognize your name....throw into the mix something interesting to say and bam! you start making a name for yourself.
Third, blogging allows you to grow as an expert in the field. Like a stand-up comedian, at first they only have a few jokes, maybe enough material for a short amateur night. However, if they keep at it, eventually they can headline for an hour or more.
Start a blog, even if you don't have much to say immediately, it will help you collect your thoughts. Write about what interests you, ideas you may have, or things you've read that make a good point.
Then let the world find you!
The more you write, the more likely it is that your thoughts will bubble-up in the Google realm of knowledge.

SportBrain - The Internet pedometer
If you look at my previous posts, you will see that I like to eat at Indianapolis restaurants. :-)
However, this hobby tends to have a counter effect in that I am always trying to shed pounds. Years ago I weighed about the same that I weight today, but my weight has been a bit of a roller coaster for the past few years.
At my heaviest I weighed 255lbs, then I recieved a SportBrain for Christmas. SportBrain had just begun and there was a lot of excitement inside its membership. You wore a small device on your waistline and it recorded the steps you took in a day. The idea was to wear it during your entire day so that throughout the day you attempted to find areas to grow your steps.
I remember parking as far as I could from the place that I was going. I would take the steps over the elevator anytime it was possible and I would go for a walk at lunch every day.
Sportbrain also had groups and rewards. This led to a nature of competition with the members. At the highlight, I had also convinced over 10 people at work to join me....not to mention many of my friends and family.
I ended up losing 100lbs. Then Sportbrain went out of buisness. A few members started the Walkclub. The Walkclub was fun, but it didn't seem to have the same competitive spirit that made me want to win.
A few years after SportBrain's demise, they resurfaced...but it hasn't been the same. I joined in hopes that I could re-gain the competitve drive. However, this time it seemed the company lost sight of what made it special. They say that you can win rewards, but in the time that I was a new member, I never once saw an opportunity to win a reward. The groups also seemed to be empty of full of people with no steps, meaning they had given up.
So, I recently joined Stickk. I am hoping that Stickk will help the competitve spirit become alive inside again. Stickk allows you to put a committment, complete with money, to your weight loss. For each week I miss my goal, my brother gets $5. For each week I make my goal, I get to keep $5 of my money. You can also set up supporters to keep you going.
Wish me luck, and let me know if you catch wind of any other interesting online tools

Forbidden City no more
Jason and I ate at Forbidden City last night....for the last time.
We love to go to this all you can eat Chinese buffet. Typically they have a ton of crab legs that we can spend an hour eating....however, this time there were no crab legs.
When we asked the waitress why there were no crab legs she informed us that he boss had given her two weeks and that the place was closing down.
So sad.

6 Lounge and Restaurant - Is anyone there?
I received an email from 6 Lounge and Restaurant regarding my blog post. I had informed them that I wrote about them and they replied.
Their response:

Their response:
Thanks for the mention of our establishment in your blog. Next time you are in the area, please stop by. Thanks again. Best, The Staff
Again, I guess they don't care for thier business enough to actually read the blog.

I am far behind
I have over 1000 unread email messages in my inbox. Yes, over 90% are not very personal and are from various lists that I'm on...but I still need to spend some time to go through these.
I was in San Francisco all week for work and I got into Indianapolis about 12 hours after I was supposed to.
ARGH!
